About Mercury 60HP 60ELPT 20″ Shaft – Outboard Motor

The Mercury 60ELPT is a 60-horsepower FourStroke, the strongest rating on Mercury’s 995cc four-cylinder block, and at 252 lbs it weighs the same as the 50 built alongside it. Electronic fuel injection handles cold starts and fuel metering, while the spec sheet covers electric start, power trim and tilt, remote mechanical controls, a 20-inch long shaft, and an 18-amp alternator for battery and electronics. Its single-overhead-cam valvetrain never needs adjustment, and the block and gearcase carry Mercury’s saltwater corrosion protection.

Since there’s no weight difference against the 50, the 60 is the pick whenever the transom rating allows it, and those extra ten horses show with a full boat in a head sea. It’s the right power for a mid-size skiff or pontoon working Casco Bay, or a light console fishing the shoreline reaches of the Maine coast. South Port Marine stocks and rigs the 60ELPT in South Portland, so call (207) 799-8191, or the Danvers sales office at (978) 904-1924 for the North Shore.
