About Mercury 3.5HP 3.5MH 15″ Shaft – Outboard Motor

The Mercury 3.5MH is a 3.5-horsepower single-cylinder FourStroke built on the same 85cc block as Mercury’s 2.5, tuned to make an extra horsepower that shows up when the boat’s loaded. It’s carbureted with a rope start eased by automatic decompression, and it runs a tiller with 360-degree steering, a forward-neutral shift, a 15-inch short shaft, and a 0.3-gallon internal fuel tank. The whole package weighs 41 lbs with a built-in carry handle, and it’s saltwater rated with sacrificial anodes and the same corrosion protection Mercury puts on its big motors.

That added horsepower matters on a tender hauling two people and gear out to a mooring in Casco Bay, where the 2.5 can start to feel worked. It needs no battery and no rigging, so it goes from a stern rail bracket to a transom and back all season in salt. South Port Marine carries the 3.5MH in South Portland, so call (207) 799-8191, or the Danvers office at (978) 904-1924 for the North Shore.
