The Mercury 200L is a 200-horsepower FourStroke on Mercury’s 3.4-liter V6 block, and at 473 lbs it carries no weight penalty over the 175 built on the same powerhead. The V6 uses a dual overhead cam design with a performance-tuned intake to make strong midrange torque, and this L model rigs with mechanical controls, power trim and tilt, and a 20-inch shaft. A high-output alternator feeds a full electronics package even at idle, the valvetrain is maintenance-free, and the corrosion protection is built for full-time salt use.

Two hundred horses on a light V6 is a strong single for 20 to 23-foot center consoles, planing a loaded boat quickly and holding a comfortable cruise back across Casco Bay when the wind’s been on it all afternoon.
