The Mercury 175L DTS is a 175-horsepower FourStroke running Mercury’s 3.4-liter V6, a big block for the rating, so it makes easy power low in the rev range. DTS means Digital Throttle and Shift, which gives you smooth, precise shifts and instant throttle response with none of the slack of mechanical cables. The V6 adds Adaptive Speed Control, holding your rpm through turns and load changes, and the package runs a 20-inch shaft, power trim and tilt, a high-output alternator for electronics, and Mercury’s saltwater corrosion protection at 473 lbs.

An understressed V6 at 175 horses suits a 20 to 22-foot center console or dual console running the Casco Bay islands and the nearshore grounds, with torque in reserve when the boat’s full and the sea’s up.
